Question Asked:

Block IP's Posted 3 years ago by in BudURL

I was watching my clickstream today and someone clicked the link in my email 20+ times... I want to block the IP, but not sure what that actually does... Does it send the person to an error screen or just pull their click count out of my stats? Could I get some more information on what blicking an IP does... Thanks David

Hi, David.  Our IP blocking is eactly what you're looking to do.  To anyone who clicks on the link, the experience does not change.  Behind the scenes, we remove any blocked IPs from your stats.  You will still see them in your click stream as this view is real-time, however as we run various processes behind the scenes, anything from a blocked IP will be removed permanently from your stored stats.

To block an IP, click on the red circle with the line through it and then click the "Block IP" button.  The effect is not retro-active, so your historical stats will not be impacted, but all future traffic from this IP will be ignored.

If you have any other questions, please let us know!

Thanks,

Andy
